On Monday, April 8, 2024, New York State will be within the path of a solar eclipse that darkens the skies over our region!!
Viewers of all ages are expected to try to catch a glimpse and must view safely.
Keep Your Eyes Protected
Sunglasses will NOT protect your eyes. View a solar eclipse is through a pinhole projector or a plastic or metal colander from the kitchen. Another safer way to view a solar eclipse is by using (ISO) 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses.
Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
UV rays from the sun damages skin, even in cooler temperatures or on a cloudy day Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Wear a wide-brimmed hat, long-sleeved shirts, and long pants.
