Stony Brook Cancer’s CPiA team congratulates Patchogue Medford Youth & Community Services (PMYCS) in taking action against cancer this summer season. Through our partnership, this Suffolk County based non-profit organization has incorporated sun safety education in its curriculum, with three sun safety events held this summer! Children and staff of PMYCS learned all about how to stay safe in the sun while still having fun with games like Hot Sun (hot potato), Sunny Says (Simon Says), and sun safety trivia games, led by Stony Brook Cancer Center’s health educators. CPiA provided sun safety gear for participating kids and educational materials in English and Spanish for staff, parents, and community members to increase awareness of skin cancer prevention. Thank you PMYCS for a great, sun safe summer!
