The Long Island Aquarium is getting ready for a sun safe summer with Stony Brook Cancer Center! On May 1st, Long Island Aquarium adopted sun safety policies for visitors and employees. With support from Stony Brook Cancer Center, a new shade structure was constructed in April to protect visitors from the sun while enjoying the sea lion show. The Long Island Aquarium will be rolling out their new policy throughout May, which is skin cancer awareness month, with additional sun safety gear including sunscreen dispensers and signage coming soon.

The Long Island Aquarium will also be joining Stony Brook Cancer Center at our second annual Block the Sun, Not the Fun sun safety family day event at Smith Haven Mall on Saturday, May 13th. They will be helping us promote sun safety to our community, and are bringing along some small sea critters to join us in the fun!

Be sure to visit the Long Island Aquarium in downtown Riverhead this summer for some sun safe fun!
