Cancer Prevention in Action (CPiA) of Glens Falls Hospital’s Health Promotion Center is incredibly fortunate to partner with Glens Falls Common School District, Abraham (Abe) Wing Elementary School. Our partnership goals were to create awareness of the dangers of UV ray exposure, increase access to sunscreen and shade options, and work together to reduce skin cancer outcomes on campus and down the road for the Abe Wing family. Since adopting and bundling a CPiA Sun Safety Policy within the Districts newly updated Wellness Policy, CPiA has been invited on campus to promote sun safer behaviors at events like Open House and Field Day. Abe Wings commitment to sun safety awarded the District with two (2) 15’ customized shaded sports benches for their playground and sports fields. Ms. Girard’s 1st grade class couldn’t wait to share how much they loved their new benches with CPiA.
