The HPV vaccination prevents cancer.

The HPV vaccine prevents Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, a common virus which 8 out of 10 people will get in their lifetime. It is designed to prevent HPV infection and is targeted towards the specific types of HPV that can lead to 6 different types of cancer, and genital warts.

The HPV vaccine:
• Prevents more than 90% of cancers caused by HPV.

• Provides safe and lasting protection against infections that cause HPV-related cancers.

• It is given as a series of two doses for children starting at age 9. If starting the vaccine series at age 15 or older, it is given as three doses.

• It is best when given long before preteens are exposed to the virus.

• It is also recommended through age 26 for those not vaccinated in childhood, and is safe for people between 27-45 with guidance from a health care provider.

Talk to your doctor about the HPV vaccination today!

If you do not have a health care provider, your local health department or CPiA can help you find a vaccine provider in your community. If you or your children are uninsured and cannot afford the vaccine, there are resources available to obtain the vaccine free of charge.

The best time to take action against cancer is, before it starts.
